Hachi - Bozeman's Sushi Pub

Hachi Sushi Pub is a sushi pub in The Market Building on Bozeman’s bustling west side. It is a concept by the Blue Collar Restaurant Group, which runs 10 restaurants in Bozeman and Jackson, Wyoming. Its magic is a very intentional balance between really outstanding traditional sushi, modern sashimi and Japanese street-style food.  

We have had the pleasure of working with Blue Collar Restaurant Group on multiple new brands and rebrands for their restaurants, so when they approached us with this concept, we couldn’t wait to dig in. While every concept in the Blue Collar Restaurant Group is unique, the constant thread throughout is Blue Collar’s “service first” pledge. They want to make sure that everyone who steps inside their restaurants feels valued and taken care of. This goes for both customers and employees.

The other day, we sat down with Blane Woodfin, Blue Collar Restaurant Group’s regional president in Bozeman, to talk about Hachi and their experience branding a new restaurant. Check out our interview now.

Hachi has a unique brand that sets it apart from other sushi restaurants in Bozeman and unifies it with the rest of the Blue Collar Restaurant Group, empowering it to own a place in people's minds as Bozeman's sushi pub backed by a service-first approach.

Bozeman’s restaurant scene is booming and several new sushi restaurants have opened in recent months, providing sharp competition for customers and staffing.


Communicate through branding Hachi’s izakaya X factor, an equal emphasis on exceptional traditional sushi, modern sashimi and elevated Japanese street-style food.


Craft a brand strategy that would give clear direction to the Blue Collar Restaurant Group as it started to build out the concept for Hachi with a brand identity to match.

Brand Launch

Hardy facilitated a multi-phase brand launch that considered everything from employee-owner training to the ‘why pay more’ signs. The first step was to train all leadership staff on the new strategy. By providing consistent language, their leadership team has the tools to communicate the brand to all employee-owners and customers, utilize it in hiring, and lean on it for business decisions. To support the high level of service T&C is known for, we created talking points, rack cards, and tools that empower employee-owners to answer questions customers may have.


The Bridger Brewing team wanted to be prepared to can and distribute its beer after opening its second location. AMS partnered with Bridger Brewing for packaging design concepts. The first step in the packaging process involved a strategy session in which the unique identity of each beer was explored and dissected. Several concepts were then sketched out. Once a concept was selected for each beer, custom illustrations were created for cans and boxes. The result is a full lineup of beers, each with its own design that is unique while still clearly a member of the Bridger Brewing brand.
